Which Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches are closing in 2026/27? Here's the full list – and your banking alternatives
Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, which are all part of the Lloyds Banking Group, will shut at least 168 bank branches in 2026 and 2027, after the Group announced 95 new closures today (Wednesday 11 February 2026).
Below we've list the planned closures in full and what the alternatives are if you still want face-to-face banking:

Lloyds – 94 branches closed or closing (including 53 announced today).

Halifax – 46 branches closing (including 31 announced today).

Bank of Scotland – 28 branches closing (including 11 announced today).
Alternative ways to bank face-to-face with Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland
Here's what to try if your local branch is closing:

Use another of the Group's branches. Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers can use branches across any of the three banks for everyday banking, such as making cash deposits, withdrawals and paying in cheques. Find your nearest Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch – but be aware that this branch could end up closing too.

See if there's a 'banking hub' in your area. Banking hubs are shared spaces run by the Post Office – but separate to actual Post Offices – where customers of multiple banks can deposit and withdraw cash, get face-to-face support and manage their accounts. As of Wednesday 11 February, there are 214 hubs up and running around the UK, with 58 additional hubs recommended.
Even if there's not a representative of your bank at your local hub, you can use the banking hub counter to access banking services. You can use Cash Access website, as well as the Post Office's branch finder (if there is one, it'll show up in the list with a "banking hub" label) to check if there's a hub near you. -
Check if a Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland 'community banker' is visiting your area. Community bankers will have a dedicated office space in a local venue. You can chat to them in private and they can offer support with account enquiries, but they don't offer cash or counter services. Check if a community banker is visiting your area and whether you'll need to book an appointment on the Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland websites.

Head to a nearby Post Office. You can withdraw cash and make deposits into your bank account via the Post Office.

If you need branch access and don't have alternative services nearby, consider switching
If you no longer want to stay with Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland, you might want to consider switching to a bank that does have a local branch nearby – although bear in mind there's no guarantee that won't close as well.

Santander – get a free £200 upfront for switching, a possible £25 voucher, 1% bills cashback, 6% easy-access savings and a top overseas debit card. To get the free cash, you can't have ever had a switch bonus from Santander, and you must be switching from a non-Santander, Cahoot or Cater Allen account, plus you can't have held a Santander current account on 1 January 2025.
Santander confirmed in January that it will shut 58 of its branches across the UK in 2026 and 2027 – after adding 44 branches to the list. -
Nationwide – get a free £175 for switching, 5% interest on up to £1,500, 1% cashback for 12 months, access to a 6.5% regular saver and an up to £50 0% overdraft. You can't have switched into a Nationwide account or have received switch cash from Nationwide. However, if you've previously received a bonus by switching into a sole account and you're now switching into a joint account (or vice versa), you'll still qualify.
Nationwide has promised to keep its 696 Nationwide and Virgin Money branches open until at least 2030. -
First Direct – get a free £175, fee-free overseas spending, access to a 7% regular saver, and a £250 0% overdraft for many. You can't have ever had ANY product with First Direct, and you can't have opened an HSBC current account since January 2018.
First Direct doesn't have any branches of its own, but First Direct customers can use HSBC branches to pay in cheques, as well as deposit and withdraw cash. So, it could be an option if you have an HSBC branch nearby. HSBC has promised not to close bank branches until at least 2027. -
TSB – ends 11.59pm, Tuesday 17 February. Get a free £150 upfront for switching, plus £50 in April and £30 cashback. You'll also get access to a regular saver offering 5% interest. To get the free cash, you can't have had a switch bonus from TSB since 1 October 2022. TSB is yet to announce bank branch closures this year.

NatWest – get £150, plus £36 a year cashback and a 7% linked regular saver. You can't have held an existing NatWest current account as of 17 February, and you can't have ever received a switch bonus from NatWest, RBS or Ulster Bank before. NatWest will close at least 39 of its branches in 2026/27 after announcing 32 new closures in January.

Co-op Bank – get a free £100 bonus for switching, £25 a month for three months and access to a 7% linked regular saver. To get the free cash, you can't have had a switch bonus from Co-op Bank since 1 November 2022. The Co-op Bank hasn't announced any permanent bank branch closures for 2026, though it has reduced its opening hours in some branches this year.

HSBC – for high earners only. Get a free £250, worldwide family travel insurance, digital GP appointments and more. To get the free cash, you can't have received a switch bonus from HSBC since 1 January 2025. HSBC has promised not to close bank branches until at least 2027.
